MARNI
contemporary luxury fashion brand under Italy’s OTB Group
MARNI is a contemporary luxury fashion brand under Italy’s OTB Group, founded in Milan in 1994 by designer Consuelo Castiglioni.
The brand has its own distinctive eclecticism and is adept at creating bold color clashes and mixing a range of materials, breaking the strict confines of traditional luxury retail spaces. It infuses artistic flair, artisanal texture, and free personal expression into every detail of its stores.
Unlike the solemn narrative of conventional luxury boutiques, MARNI’s retail spaces prioritize material juxtaposition, layered textures, and a relaxed artistic atmosphere. This sets extremely high requirements for showcase customisers in material comprehension, precision fabrication, and on-site delivery capability.
LUXE, a luxury brand retail display manufacturer, undertakes this MARNI boutique showcase project, translating the brand’s artistic vision into high-end commercial fixtures that are buildable, mass-producible and durable for long-term use.
Straight hanging rails in traditional fashion stores create order, but not MARNI's casual fluidity. Breaking free from conventional display thinking and following the brand’s core ethos of freedom and unrestraint, we designed a continuously undulating wave-curved metal hanging system. Soft rolling curves run through the entire store as flowing lines, echoing the spontaneous, whimsical design language of MARNI apparel. Each curved hanging unit is integrally formed with a curvature tolerance ≤1.5 mm, ensuring seamless and consistent curves when multiple units are arranged in sequence.
The load-bearing structure is verified by mechanical calculation, with a static load capacity of 80 kg per rail. It sustains long-term hanging of assorted garments without deformation, balancing artistic form and commercial practicality. The staggered curved display framework partitions the space organically, softens wall boundaries and guides customers to wander and explore.
Meanwhile, a hallmark of MARNI’s creation lies in boldly mixing different materials to create rich visual layers. We embed this brand characteristic into island display counters and shoe & bag cabinets.
As an apparel store fit-out fixture supplier, we clad cabinet facades with vertically segmented mirrored stainless steel mosaic modules. The mirrored texture continuously reflects the store’s colorful garments, lighting, and spatial contours, generating cascading light and shadow to build a dreamy, multi-dimensional visual effect—perfectly echoing MARNI’s aesthetics of material collision. The mirrored material also amplifies spatial transparency, rendering the boutique open and light, free from the heavy, oppressive vibe of classic luxury stores and aligning with the brand’s laid-back artistic temperament. Practical for commercial operation, the surface is treated with anti-fingerprint coating to preserve refined aesthetics over time.
Light is essential to amplify the charm of mixed materials. We customised embedded diffused lighting for curved fixtures and mirrored cabinets to avoid glare from direct, intense light. Gentle illumination spreads along the wave surfaces and creates subtle, shifting reflections on stainless steel mosaics as visitors move. Lighting never overshadows the apparel; instead, it acts as a spatial backdrop to accentuate MARNI’s rich colors and fabrics, enabling intriguing dialogue between garment prints, textures, and metal fixtures, and further reinforcing the brand’s free mixed artistic language.
All in-store fixtures align with brand tonality while prioritizing robust craftsmanship. LUXE adopts multi-layer spraying and high-temperature curing processes. The paint film thickness reaches ≥0.8 mm with a smooth, uniform finish. It is UV resistant and abrasion resistant, resisting yellowing and fading under prolonged strong mall lighting. Its VOC content meets EU E0 environmental standards, making it ideal for upscale enclosed commercial spaces.
For technically challenging forms such as curved hanging racks and mirrored mosaic modules, LUXE completes the structural development to balance artistic styling with long-term load stability. Meticulous polishing of paint and metal finishes to the color and texture standards of MARNI’s global boutiques.
Factory prefabricated modular production will minimize disruption to mall operations and on-site construction time within malls, ensuring the overall effect is delivered in full. Every craft step serves one core goal: preserving the spatial temperament the brand intends to convey and preventing aesthetic compromise during implementation.
From conceptual development to on-site handover, LUXE consistently balances aesthetics and commercial performance. Rejecting the fixed paradigms of luxury display, we leverage precision craftsmanship to interpret MARNI’s unconventional design language, delivering retail spaces with artistic appeal, durability, and operational friendliness, and achieving complete, uncompromised realisation of brand creativity.
